FAFSA has been helping students for a while now by providing financial aid for seniors heading into college. Let’s dig deep into what FAFSA is and how to apply.

So, what is FAFSA? It is “The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form you need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college.” FAFSA helps students every year to acquire the money they need for college. Especially with student loans growing over the years, FAFSA can get you out of debt quicker and easier.

Now that we know more about FAFSA, let’s see what Ms. Key, the college advisor, says about this topic.

What do you need to apply for FAFSA?

“Seniors need to create an FSA ID that they will use every year to complete the FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The student must have a Social Security Number and W2 form or income information for the parents or guardians that they currently live with.”

What are the benefits of FAFSA?

“The FAFSA is free to complete and colleges use the FAFSA to offer students financial aid both federally as well as institutional scholarships. Students will fill out the FAFSA every year in college to renew their aid. The FAFSA also serves as the application for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship in Georgia.”

What does FAFSA provide, & how do you apply?

“The FAFSA determines if students qualify to receive grants, loans, scholarships, work study and other types of financial assistance in college.”

To end it all off, we’re having a FAFSA help night at Lanier for seniors and their parents on Thursday, October 27th at 6pm in the Media Center. With all of this said, here’s some links to help you if you’d like to apply:
