The late Cameron Boyce’s last film, Runt, is now available to the public on all digital platforms! Runt is an American thriller about a group of neglected high school seniors that find themselves pulled into a downward spiral of violence. Boyce plays the lead, Cal, a teenage boy who goes into a period of self-destruction after being bullied by his crush’s boyfriend and his friends. With no adult intervention, Cal became an adult who lacked a moral compass.

If you grew up watching Disney Channel, like most of our generation, then it’s impossible for you to not know who Cameron Boyce is. However, even if you didn’t watch Disney Channel growing up you should know him as the actor with freckles who played Adam Sandler’s kid in the Grown Ups movies, or the little boy in the horror film Mirror, the action movie Eagle eye, and the comedy Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. Although he only played supporting characters in these films, he had his first starring role in Jessie as Luke, a mischievous kid adopted into a rich family who had a crush on his nanny, Jessie. From there Cameron Boyce continued to act on Disney Channel in the Descendants series, Bunk’d, and The Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything.
Throughout his years acting, Cameron captured the hearts of his co stars and fans. After his passing, Adam Sandler tweeted, “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. … All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.” Cameron followed in the footsteps of his grandmother, by implementing change and advocating for those in need. His grandma, Jo Ann Crozier Allen, was part of the Clinton 12, a group of 12 black students who showed courage by integrating a high school in Tennessee during segregation. Cameron brought awareness to the Global Water Crisis by raising $30,000 for the construction of two wells, which he helped build in a village in Swaziland, he brought awareness to the end of gun violence, and the end of homelessness in Los Angeles. He wrote, “It’s so important to think selflessly. To acknowledge that problems exist even if they don’t apply to you. To understand how lucky we are to even be here, and how nothing in your life will ever be more fulfilling than helping others.”
Cameron Boyce unexpectedly died in his sleep on July 6, 2019, from a seizure that was a result of the long-term battle he fought against epilepsy. Before he passed Cameron Boyce said, “We all go … I hope that all of you think about what it is that you want to leave. We all have material things, we all have things that we own and we like, treat ourselves and all that stuff but what you leave behind should be bigger than you. And I really believe that.”
