Kris Rants: Winter is the best season

Between winter, spring, summer, and autumn, people have different views on which season they like the most, so I will be giving you mine. I’ve told people my favorite season before, and they called me weird. I couldn’t care less if people think I’m weird, so let’s get into this.

In last place is spring. There is almost nothing about this entire season that doesn’t make me want to create some form of violence and/or chaos. I despise this season so intensely that I wouldn’t be able to tell if my vision is blurry because of my allergies, or for my unforgiving rage because spring is awful. All spring has to offer is bugs, allergies, and rain. At the first sign of good weather, every public place is packed with people while birds poop wherever they want. Not to mention spring cleaning is a nightmare, daylight savings time is aggravating, those terrible smelling trees everywhere, the humidity is torture, and last but not least it’s tornado season. The only good thing about spring is Spring Break. This season makes me want to punch through a wall so many times it looks like swiss cheese. To those of you that like spring I have one question to ask; for what reason? This season is terrible and I cannot for the life of me understand why people like spring.

In third place is summer. There are a lot of good things about summer but there are also some downsides. Let’s get into the good things first obviously: there’s summer vacation. Can you name a better time of year to go on a vacation with your friends or family than during the summertime? You can relax on the beach, by the poolside, or in the park. It’s a great time to spend with your friends and book vacations to different places like maybe Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, San Diego, Miami, or the Outer Banks. As I said before, even though I like summer there are still downsides to it like intense heat, bees, wasps, pollen, and those teachers that decide it’s a good idea to give their students summer work as if half of them are going to do it. Overall I really like summer but in my opinion, there are two others that are better.

The silver medal goes to autumn. Autumn is such a good season, it’s very clear why people generally choose autumn as their favorite season. Firstly, two of the three best holidays of all time are in autumn: Halloween and Thanksgiving. Who in their right mind doesn’t love Halloween? When you are a kid you can go trick-or-treating and get lots of candy and rot your teeth. I don’t know why, but for some reason, kids welcome the idea of their teeth rotting. Especially with those delicious Halloween snacks that come out once a year. When you’re older you can go to Halloween parties and still wear costumes only knowing that you’re older you have a lot more options. You can also go to some Halloween events, haunted houses, and corn mazes; and how can I forget Thanksgiving? You get together with friends and family, eat a bunch of food, watch or play some football, laugh at that one Uncle who had a little too much to drink, and overall just enjoy life. The very aesthetic of autumn is beautiful, the colors are a sight to behold. There are some things bad about autumn, like the inconsistent weather and the people that take the Halloween decorations a little too far. But overall, autumn is amazing.

At the top of the podium is winter. Yes, I said winter is the best season. This is why people called me weird, and to make it weirder I’m a summer baby. I was born on the seventh of June. So people thought it was strange that summer wasn’t my favorite season. But for me, winter is the best season. People usually complain about the cold of winter, but I spent 14 years in northern winters, so cold isn’t a problem for me. Winter has so many good things about it: just imagine you’re in your living room and it’s cold in your house. Then, you get a pillow and some covers and bundle yourself up into a little blanket cocoon, turn off the lights, and turn on a horror movie. That’s just amazing, getting wrapped up in blankets is the most comfortable thing ever, and the cold allows you to do that without getting nasty night sweats. I didn’t mention snow days yet, back when I was living in the North they made us go to school even though there would be about 15 inches of snow on the ground. Here in Georgia, any snow that happens here means that school is canceled. Georgian’s can’t drive on the regular road let alone snow. So they just cancel school, it’s amazing. Furthermore, snowball fights were the best. You can lose yourself in a good snowball fight with your friends and I really miss doing those along with making snowmen and snow angels. Good times. Even with all this, I didn’t even mention the best holiday of the year: Christmas. There is no sane person on this planet who can celebrate Christmas that doesn’t like Christmas. It has everything Thanksgiving has and more. You have food, family, and presents. They call it the season of giving for a reason, not to mention the amazing Christmas songs. I know you’ve heard Mariah Carrey’s Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. That song is iconic and amazing. Plus, the Christmas specials that show on TV bring me such joy; but those are nothing compared to the Christmas movies. Specifically the classic Christmas films. You have The Grinch, The Polar Express, Arthur Christmas, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the best Christmas movie of all time, Home Alone. Who doesn’t like Home Alone? It’s a classic; just like winter.
