LHS’s Luke Jones commits to UAB

UAB College

Senior, Luke Jones, plays football here at Lanier and has recently committed to The University of Alabama at Birmingham, a D1 school, to play football as well as continue his academic career. Luke has been playing football for Lanier since he was in second grade, and he is happy to be continuing as he enters college.
The recruitment process really kept Luke busy. Between phone calls and texts with different coaches from different schools, recruitment became a very stressful process. Luke is relieved to have that stress lifted now that he has made a commitment. Luke says that being committed to a school takes a big weight off his shoulders, knowing that his future is set and secure. He feels confident in his choice despite the different options he had.
Luke had many options like Furman University and Richmond, however, Luke chose to commit to UAB. When asked why, he said, “They have a very successful program, the past two out of three years they’ve won their conference. They’re also only two and a half hours away, making it easy to come and visit my family.”
Luke has been very successful in his football career and deserves to be recognized for the hard work that got him into a great college. Although his Lanier football career is over, we can still encourage him and cheer him on as he plays in college. Go Blazers!
