Senator Election Results

Senator Warnock and opponent Herschel Walker (CNN)

Georgia’s Midterm Elections are 98% in, the race is close between Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker. Warnock, who is currently in office as Senator, holds the ticket for the Democratic Party candidate, and is currently beating Herschel Walker, the GOP candidate. Warnock has 49.4% of the popular vote right now and Walker has 48.5%. It is too close to call the race because neither candidate got 50% of the popular vote so this has become a runoff election. One question still prevails for students, how will this election affect education policies?
If Senator Warnock were to win the election, here are some things we could expect to see put in place: Student Loan forgiveness, invest more money into our schools to help all Georgia schools have proper resources, and support of gun control legislation.
Herschel Walker has not made a whole lot of statements about his education policies but has talked about how he will keep our communities safer. Walker has made statements about ensuring that there is funding and training for police officers to keep our community safe, including our schools.
Other differences aside, there are ways that both Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker both have plans and policies to be set in place, once one of them wins the runoff election on December 6th.
